Despite the wind and cold, 1,000 Nazi sympathizers staged a torchlight parade last night along Broad street, one of the main thoroughfares of the city, in celebration of Germany’s victory in the Saar plebiscite.
Fifty men in white shirts carried swastika banners and torches.
Behind them came two bands, members of half a dozen fraternal and social organizations, several hundred women carrying flags and banners hailing the Reich triumph and delegations from several youth groups.
