Nine local institutions will benefit by the will of the late Alfred H. Hecht, Jewish business man, whose will recently filed for probate, bequeaths $26,500 for local charities.

The largest single sum, $10,000, goes to the Harper Hospital for the founding and maintenance of an “Alfred H. Hecht Room.” Sums of $5,000 each were left to the United Jewish Charities of Detroit and the Jewish Orphan Home, of Cleveland. The Detroit Community Fund is to receive $2,500, and $1,000 each was left to the Jewish Fresh Air Society, Jewish Consumptive Home of Denver and the Children’s Free Hospital.

The bulk of the estate—in sums of $500,000 each—was left in trust to Harry M. Epstine and Philip A. Epstine.

An interesting item in the will is a $1,000 bequest to Samuel Summerfield, lifelong friend and partner, for the purchase of a gift.

“I desire my lifelong friend to purchase for himself some article to be in remembrance of me,” Mr. Hecht directed in his will.
