basso, continues to be a member of the State opera’s cast. Kipnis, who has been heard in Chicago, is a Jew. The reason he retains his position is that Goering has been forced to admit he cannot find any one as good.

Goering is Direcotor-General of the Prussian Theatre in addition to all his other offices. However, he isn’t catching quite so many shows these days as he would like because of the pressure of international diplomatic business.
