The charge that the Polish Ministry of Commerce is ousting the Jews from trading was made yesterday by the Jewish deputy, Dr. Rottenstreich, at a plenary session of the Polish Parliament.
The Jewish parliamentarian pointed out that even in the import of oranges from Palestine preference is shown to non-Jewish importers in Poland, despite the fact that many of them had no previous connection with fruit trading. Such discriminations, Dr. Rottenstreich complained, are injuring Polish industry and are ruining the Jews.
Dr. Rottenstreich also denied that the appeals which the Jews from Poland have voiced for Jewish relief from abroad are prejudicing public opinion abroad against Poland. “These appeals are confined to our brethren in foreign countries,” Dr. Rottenstreich emphasized. “Did not Poles appeal to their Polish brethren abroad during the flood in Galicia last year?”
