Sherwood Anderson, author, will address a luncheon session of the triennial convention of the National Council of Jewish Women in New Orleans. The convention will be held from March 10 to 15 and will be addressed also by Prof. George E. Simmons, head of the School of Journalism at Tulane University.

The orthodox rabbinate has taken steps for another drive to strengthen its control over the observance of the dietary laws in the kosher poultry industry, following a reorganization of the Kashruth Association. Ten committees have been formed, the chairmen of which have been constituted as an administrative committee.

Altneuland, a Zionist club, was to give a dinner Saturday night in honor of two of its members, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Dorfman, who have just returned from a two months’ stay in Palestine. About thirty members of the organization were expected to attend the affair, which was to be held at the Fifth Avenue Hotel.

Arsene Darmesteter deciphered the difficult and beautiful elegy, preserved in the Vatican, on the burning of the thirteen Jewish martyrs at Tropes in 1288.
