Charges that Canadian customs officials are discriminating against Palestine fruits were made here today in the House of Commons by Graham White.
The Secretary for the Dominions replied that he is unaware of any alleged discriminations as far as Palestine export to Canada is concerned. He promised to communicate with the Canadian government to ascertain the customs duties charged for Palestine fruits shipped to Canada via the United Kingdom.
Sir Cunliffe-Lister, the Colonial Secretary, replying to a question about large land purchases in Palestine by Abbas Hilmi, the ex-Khedive of Egypt, declared that he does not know of any such transactions. Sir Cunliffe-Lister added that the Arab opposition to the Jewish immigration into Palestine is “freely ventilated” in the Arab press.
