Two German Nazis were arrested today by the Rumanian authorities in connection with the anti-Jewish student demonstrations which have been taking place here for the last few days.
The authorities suspect that the demonstrations were inspired by foreign agitators. As a result an investigation was started today by the police into the residence and status of all foreigners in the city.
The anti-Jewish student demonstration last night passed without any incident. Strong police cordons are now patrolling the city in order to prevent a recurrence of anti-Semitic disorders.
WILL CURB VIOLENCE
The authorities are definitely determined to suppress new anti-Jewish demonstrations threatened again today by the students. Special precautionary measures are being taken to prevent anti-Jewish outbreaks between now and Sunday, when the congress of the anti-Semitic students is to open. The authorities will not permit the opening of the congress unless the student leaders guarantee that it will pass quietly.
The University of Bucharest remained closed today and will probably not reopen until next week. The administration of the university fears new clashes between the Jewish and anti-Semitic students if the university is reopened before the anti-Semitic students have pledged to maintain order.
