All British Jewry will be mobilized Sunday to organize relief for the Jews of Poland throughout England.
Responding to an appeal of Jewish leaders, a conference of representatives of all Jewish organizations and institutions in London will be held on that day to consider ways and means to raise large funds for Polish Jewry on a nation-wide scale.
A call issued over the signatures of Chief Rabbi Dr. J. H. Hertz, Neville Laski, president of the Board of Jewish Deputies, Nahum Sokolow, president of the World Zionist Organization, Sir Osmond D’Avig-###-Goldsmid and other prominent Jewish leaders, states that “utter destitution has overwhelmed the Jewish population of Poland.”
Mr. Laski, addressing a press conference here, emphasized that one million Jews in Poland, a third of the entire Jewish population in the country, are utterly impoverished.
