The Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) has called upon its 1,375 national directors throughout the country and Jewish organizations affiliated and cooperating with it, to wire Congressmen their views on Bill H. R. 8163, which has been reported favorably by the House Committee on Immigration and Naturalization and which will shortly come before Congress for action.

This Bill will correct many of the glaring injustices and inhumanities of the present immigration laws. It provides for discretionary power not to deport aliens of good moral character and where deportation would result in separation of families or other hardships. It permits aliens who have no legal residence but who are of good moral character and are not subject to deportation, to legalize their status. It makes it possible for certain persons here temporarily to remain here permanently without being required to leave the country.
