the occasion,” the statement emphasized.

Mr. Rothenberg’s statement follows:

“The Zionist Organization today is the chief instrumentality for saving a large part of the Jewish people from the wreckage which engulfs it. It is of the utmost importance, therefore, that the policies of the Zionist movement be such as to confirm to basic Zionist ideals, and that the execution of such policies be entrusted to a leadership that will not be diverted by partisan points of view from the central goal of safeguarding the interests of the whole Jewish people in the upbuilding of the National Home. Ticket No. 1 represents a delegation deserving of the fullest confidence of the Zionists of America in the furtherance of these aims.

“Apart from the reasons given, the prestige of the Zionist Organization of America, the body carrying the major responsibility for Zionist activities in this country, requires that our ticket be victorious in the elections.”

Ticket No. 1, which represents a joint slate of the Zionist Organization of America, Hadassah and the Order Sons of Zion, is led by Mr. Rothenberg, Mrs. Edward Jacobs, president of Hadassah, Mrs. Samuel Halpern, former president of Hadassah, Judge Julian W. Mack, former president of the Zionist Organization, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress, and Joseph Kraemer, head of the Order Sons of Zion.
