The German Propaganda Ministry has named Dr. Kurt Singer responsible director of the Reich Union of Jewish Cultural Associations, the body organized by Hans Hinkel, special Nazi commissioner for Jewish culture to create a “cultural ghetto” for the Jews.

Dr. Singer will be responsible to Hinkel. Dr. Werner Levie was appointed general secretary of the union. Both appointments were approved today by the Gestapo, secret political police.

All Jewish artistic and cultural institutions were ordered to join the union no later than Sept. 15, with the exception of Jewish religious schools which do not fall under the supervision of the union.

The cultural union will have dictatorial control over all mediums of Jewish culture.
