Protection for German Jews was today demanded by the Executive of the Jewish Community here in a telegram sent to James G. MacDonald, League of Nations High Commissioner for German and Other Refugees.
The Jewish Community Executive also addressed an appeal to the Board of Deputies of British Jews and to the Committee of Jewish Delegations of which Dr. Stephen S. Wise of New York is president, to strengthen Jewish defence activities.
The Jewish population of Warsaw was appealed to strengthen the anti-Nazi boycott.
A proposal was made by the Executive to consult Jewish world organizations about convening in Paris a world conference of rabbis to proclaim a Cherem (excommunication) against Nazi Germany. According to Jewish religious law anyone having dealings with an excommunicated person or thing is himself subject to communication. The effect of such a nove, it is felt here, would therefore be to enforce more stringently the boycott of German goods and services.
