An internal order excluding all Jews from Winter relief, was issued here today, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns from most reliable sources.
The order, based on the Nuremberg laws, states that not only will no Winter relief be given to Jews henceforth, but contributions will not be solicited from Jews for relief funds.
This order nullifies the personal promise made in the past two years by Reich Chancellor Hitler that “Everybody will enjoy Winter relief in the Reich.”
Owing to this order, relief will be granted in some localities directly from Nazi headquarters, while in others it will be distributed under the supervision of Jewish charitable bodies.
While Jews are excluded from relief, “non-Aryans” who are not Jewish, however, will continue to receive relief according to Hitler’s declaration, it is learned.
All Jewish girls under twenty-five, serving as salesgirls, typists, bookkeepers, and in other office jobs, must quit work “for one year,” according to an official order issued here today.
Under the pretext that “all girls require a year of freedom from work in order to learn household duties,” the order states that even those Jewish girls who work for Jews must be replaced by “Aryans.”
This order is a cruel blow to Jewish girls, who may never succeed in regaining the positions they are now forced to give up, and also to the hundreds of Jewish families who are now dependent for existence on the earnings of their children.
On the eve of his second major invasion of Berlin, Julius Streicher, Germany’s leading Jew-baiter, today launched a venomous campaign against Jewish butchers and cattle-dealers.
With the powerful support of the Voelkischer Beobachter, Der Angriff and Der Schwarzekorps, the three most influential papers in the Third Reich, Streicher today demanded the closing of all Jewish butcher shops, accusing them of poisoning non-Jewish customers by selling them unsanitary meat products.
This drive is taken to indicate the government’s determination to oust Jewish cattle-dealers completely, because of the fact that “Aryan” peasants have shown a tendency to purchase from Jews whose prices are lower than those of the government cooperatives.
The speech to be made tomorrow by Streicher in the Berlin Sportpalast will not be broadcast, it was announced today.
