The order of the Reich Propaganda Ministry to eliminate Jewish names from war memorials was assailed yesterday by Leonard J. Montefiore, president of the Anglo-Jewish Association, in an address to the British Board of Jewish Deputies.

Mr. Montefiore pointed out that while the order applies only to future war memorials, it was quite likely that in German towns, which display signs, “Jews not wanted here!”, existing war memorials would be mutilated.

He paid tribute to Lord Robert Cecil of Chelwood for writing a letter to The Times protesting the order.
