Pressure against Jewish judges and lawyers in Upper Silesia is being applied directly from Berlin, it was charged today at a convention of Jewish jurists and attorneys at Oppelm. The convention was called to consider protective measures.
The Nuremberg laws do not apply to Upper Silesia by virtue of the Polish-German Convention in which minorities are protected. The convention expires in 1937.
It is charged that the pressure is being brought “for the voluntary resignation” of the Jewish judges, of whom there are seven in Upper Silesia, and of the Jewish lawyers.
A delegation of Jewish lawyers is understood to be proceeding to Katowice to confer on the problem with Dr. Felix Calonder, chairman of the Upper Silesia Mixed Commission.
