The reported plan to transfer between 100,000 and 250,000 Jews from Germany to Palestine and British territories involved the raising of $15,000,000, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today.
Three British Jews, it was also learned, have already pledged $500,000 each toward the fund. They include Viscount Bearsted, head of the Shell Oil interests and Simon Marks, department store magnate and vice-president of the English Zionist organization.
Sir Herbert Samuel, former High Commissioner of Palestine, confirmed to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today that he is sailing January 15 for New York with Viscount Bearsted and Mr. Marks on the Majestic.
