An official communique issued tonight confirms in most respects privately gathered information on today’s developments in the Arab-Jewish disorders.
According to the communique, two more Jews of those seriously wounded in yesterday’s attacks by Arabs died today. Fifteen Arabs and five Jews were injured in the course if isolated attacks. (Private sources earlier stated ten Jews and 2 policemen were injured.)
Curfew regulations, which clear the streets at seven o’clock, were continued in force in Jaffa and Tel Aviv, the communique stated.
The official version of the day’s events reported that crowds gathered in the streets of Nablus, Jenin and Tulkarem (where an Arab strike is in progress).
Further outbreaks of fire along the Jaffa-Tel Aviv boundary were reported in the communique.
Shortly after three P.M., it declared, an attempt was made by a crowd of Arabs to attack the settlement of Hatikwa. Police met resistance, but with the aid of reinforcements dispersed the crowd. Subsequently one Arab was arrested for possession of firearms.
The communique said that no other incidents of importance had been reported in Jaffa and elsewhere. It warned against spreading of unsubstantiated reports which, it said, are likely to create uneasiness in the minds of the people. Under emergency regulations, the High Commissioner ordered possessors of firearms, ammunition and explosives to keep them secure in places of which the police have been informed.
