Report Britain Frowns on Hitler Appointee for Consulship

The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Herald reported today that the British Foreign Office had notified Germany that the appointment of Dr. Otto Bene, Nazi district leader for Great Britain and Ireland, as consul general here would not be acceptable.

The Herald said that Dr. Benes had secured Reichsfuehrer Hitler’s approval for the consulship, to obtain official status for his activities.
