Reports that the Government had given permission for construction of a new harbor at this all-Jewish city were confirmed yesterday when it was announced that dredging for the harbor would begin Monday.

Meanwhile, a number of steamers have anchored near Tel Aviv to unload their cargoes directly to this city by way of the Yarkon River. They ignored the neighboring port at Jaffa, predominantly Arab city, which has been severely hit by the Arab general strike.

Granting of permission for the new harbor followed the decision of Jewish importers here and in Jerusalem to boycott Jaffa and use the Haifa port until a Tel Aviv harbor was constructed, Jaffa, Haifa and Tel Aviv are on the Mediterranean.
