The High Commissioner, Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, today called diplomats of Iraq and Transjordan to a conference with Palestine military and Government officials in what is believed a final effort to obtain a peaceful solution of the troublesome situation in the Holy Land.

Sir Arthur, it was made known, has invited to the conference Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Nuri Pasha as Said, and the Transjordan’s Prime Minister, Ibrahim Pasha Hashem.

Others who will attend the important meeting are Commander Pierce of the Royal Air Force, Chief Secretary John Hathorn-Hall, Attorney General Harry Herbert Trusted, Richard Abdul Hadi of the Secretariat and Press Officer Tweedy.

In informed quarters the meeting is regarded as an effort to obtain mediation of both Iraq and Transjordan to restore order. Previous mediation efforts by Emir Abdullah, ruler of Transjordan, British mandated territory bordering Palestine, had failed.
