Alarmed by the extent of terroristic activities throughout Rumania, Premier Tatarescu summoned his revamped cabinet to a special session which at noon today decided to dissolve and disarm immediately all “shock troops” affiliated with the various political parties.
The cabinet announced that all acts of terrorism would be severely punished.
Special instructions were issued to local authorities throughout the country to enforce the cabinet’s measures. Members of the police and legal branches of the Government who fail to enforce them will be dismissed, the cabinet warned.
The cabinet’s first constructive measure to cope with the growing terrorism and lawlessness was simultaneously announced.
It provides for the formation of a compulsory labor army in which will be enrolled all unemployed youths between the ages of 18 and 21. Most of the terrorism, it has been established, is the work of unemployed youngsters.
The cabinet also decided to abolish the traditional university autonomy, permitting entrance of police and soldiers on university grounds to enforce order.
