Virtual prohibition of Zionist fund collections was today extended by the Bukovina authorities to include collections sponsored by the Agudath Israel, orthodox non-Zionist organization.

Meanwhile, it was estimated here that thousands of dollars collected by the Zionists are impounded in Rumanian banks. The money, intended for use in Palestine upbuilding work, belongs in the main to the Jewish National Fund and the Palestine Foundation Fund.

Despite many reports to the contrary, there has thus far been no modification of the order prohibiting collections without special permits which to date have not been issued anywhere. On the contrary, Jewish storekeepers, from whom Jewish National Fund collection boxes have been confiscated, have been notified by the police that they will be arrested if they continue to collect funds.

Jewish organizations here are expressing wonder as to why only Jewish collections require “special authorization” and why other national minorities have not been included in the measure.
