The Daily Telegraph reported today from Moscow that many Jewish Communist Party chiefs in the Jewish autonomous region of Biro-Bidjan have been arrested on charges of anti-Soviet activities.
Those arrested were said to include Michael Katell, president of the region’s executive; Prof. Joseph Liberberg, former president, removed as a Trotskyist and counter-revolutionary, and M. Hubermann.
They were charged with fomenting Jewish nationalism and sabotaging Jewish immigration from European countries into Biro-Bidjan, the report said.
