The Rev. Dr. Edward A. Freking, national secretary of the Catholic Students’ Mission Crusade, charged Jewish support of Communism in a talk yesterday at the annual conference of the Cincinnati Archdiocesan Federation of the National Council of Catholic Women.
“We must deplore the fact that in the United States so many Jewish spokesmen for Communism are Jews in name only, having abandoned the faith of their fathers, their belief in a personal God and their respect for an objective code of morals,” Dr. Freking said.
He criticized the expression of sympathy for the Spanish Loyalists adopted at the recent convention in Columbus, Ohio, of the Central Conference of American Rabbis.
“It is my firm belief that the rabbis would have rendered an effective service to the Jewish cause if they had denounced both Communism and Fascism rather than expressed sympathy for the Communist forces in the Spanish revolution,” he asserted.
He said religious Jews did not seem aware that their race and faith were being betrayed.
