Reich government officials will be sent to jail in the future if they or any members of their families associate with Jews, the office-holders were informed in a formal notice addressed to them by police tonight, according to the Havas News Agency.
The stringent decree, which stressed that penal measures would follow any violations, made only two exceptions. Office holders may associate with Jews for reasons of official business, or may consult a Jewish physician in a case involving danger of death.
These exceptions aside, the decree sweepingly banned visiting Jews in their homes, lodging in Jewish boarding houses, buying in Jewish stores and consulting Jewish lawyers.
The interdiction was extended not only to the wife and children of office holders, but to domestics employed in their homes.
Association with “half-Jews” was left to the discretion of the office holders.
