Jewish Communist Leader Exiled to Siberia

Abraham Merozhin, 57-year-old leader of the former Jewish Section of the Communist Party and one of the founders of the Comzet, Government commission for Jewish land settlement, has been exiled from Moscow to Siberia as a Trotskyist, it was announced today.

Merezhin had been a Communist leader in the Ukraine for many years before going to Moscow. He was recognized as the leader of the Jewish Communists in Soviet Russia. He was director of the Jewish Division of the People’s Commissariat for National Minorities.
