A claim that the Nazi Government had rescued the German theatre from destruction at the hands of Jewish producers was voiced by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Reich Propaganda Minister, at the Theatre Festival here.
“While the really legitimate theatres remained empty,” he said, “nothing was done. Meanwhile the Jews made use of the theatre and theatrical criticism as a powerful means of propaganda for themselves.”
