THE UNION OF RUMANIAN JEWS URGED JEWISH VOTERS IN A MANIFESTO TODAY NOT TO BE INTIMIDATED BY ANTI-SEMITIC PARTIES THREATENING TO PREVENT THEM FROM VOTING AND TO VOTE FOR “THOSE PARTIES WHOSE PROGRAM ENSURES THE MAINTENANCE OF LIBERTY AND EQUALITY AMONG ALL CITIZENS, IRRESPECTIVE OF RACE OR CREED.”

NICHIFOR ROBY, A NOTORIOUS ANTI-SEMITIC AGITATOR, LED BANDS THAT RECENTLY ATTACKED JEWS IN THE VILLAGE OF POENI, IN MURAMURESH PROVINCE, IT WAS DISCLOSED HERE. ROBY, VISITING THE VILLAGE ON A PROPAGANDA TOUR FOR THE ANTI-SEMITIC NATIONAL CHRISTIAN PARTY, DIRECTED ATTACKS ON JEWISH CITIZENS AND THE WRECKING AND LOOTING OF THEIR HOMES. POENI IS INHABITED BY A LARGE NUMBER OF JEWS.

PROF. ALEXANDER CUZA, HEAD OF THE NATIONAL CHRISTIANS, KNOWN AS THE FATHER OF RUMANIAN ANTI-SEMITISM, WAS MADE A SENATOR FOR LIFE BY DECISION OF THE HIGH COURT. THE RUMANIAN CONSTITUTION PROVIDES THAT MEMBERS OF THE CHAMBER OR SENATE ELECTED TEN TIMES MAY BECOME SENATORS FOR LIFE WITH THE HIGH COURT’S APPROVAL.
