Pursuing their recently-inaugurated racial campaign, aimed at “Aryanizing” Italy, Fascist authorities announced tonight that a journal especially devoted to racial questions will begin publication next Saturday. It will be known as the Difenza Della Razza (defense of the race.)
It was not indicated what the character of the new race publication will be or whether it will be modeled on the violently anti-Jewish publication of the Nazis, Der Stuermer.
All the Italian press this evening carried leading articles on the racial question. Characteristic of the point of view taken was an article in the leading Fascist journal Lavoro Fascista which said: “Italy needs capitalists who feel themselves linked with the life and death of the nation in which they get their power. Their wealth is indissolubly linked to the power and wealth of the state. Cosmopolite merchants and speculators belong neither to our times nor our clime.”
