25,000 Englishmen have been employed by refugees who have made their home in England, it was pointed out here today by Sir John Hope Simpson in a lecture before the Liberal Summer School at Oxford.
Sir John, who is director of the Refugee Survey of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, declared the figure exceeded the number of refugees. He praised Jewish organizations for their assistance to the refugees and urged the British Government to withdraw the regulation obliging refugees to sign declarations that they would not take work, whether paid or otherwise, after admission to the country.
