Determined to check Nazi influence in this country, Alexander Petho, Hungarian publicist and director of the Magyarsag until it passed into Nazi hands, today founded a new newspaper with National Catholic leanings, the Magyar Nemzet (Hungarian Nation), it was announced here.
The Nemzet is conservative in policy and clearly hostile to any dominating political and economic influence of Germany here. The newspaper, moreover, is understood to be sympathetic with the Anglo-French point of view in international affairs. Petho’s Magyarsag at one time represented legitimist Catholic tendencies but its changed policy was noted last May when it came under the control of Maj. Ferenc Szalasy, Nazi leader.
