Prof. Ludwig Borchardt, founder and director of the German institute of Egyptian Archaelogy, has died in Germany at the age of 74, according to the Berlin newspaper Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung. Dr. Borchardt was married to the former Mimi Cohen, whose mother was related to the founders of the banking house of Kuhn, Loeb and Company.
