52 Arabs Killed in Clashes with Troops

Fifty-two Arab bandsmen were killed, a Briton slain and two wounded, and two Jews injured in disorders over the weekend.

A band attacked Ramallah, north of Jerusalem, killing a British police officer. Troops and Royal Air Force planes engaged the terrorists, killing 40 of their number. Two soldiers were wounded in the clash. Troops engaged another band near Shafaram, killing twelve of its members.

A Jewish police sergeant, Kalman Darshan, 23, was stabbed and seriously wounded by Arabs while on duty in the Arab quarter of Haifa. Arab snipers shot and seriously wounded an Oriental Jew, Nissim Nizri, 40, near the Meah Shearim quarter of Jerusalem.
