The exchange of Hungary’s Jewish population for Hungarians living in Canada, the United States and South America was suggested today by the Government organ Hefto. The newspaper estimated there were 90,000 Hungarians living in Canada, 580,000 in the United States and another 130,000 in South America. Deducting 500,000 of these who had become naturalized American citizens, Hefto pointed out that a total of 300,000 could be exchanged for Hungarian Jews. The newspaper said each case could be examined separately.
