The War Office announced today appointment of Major-General M.G.H. Barker, director of recruiting, as temporary General Officer Commanding the British forces in Palestine. He succeeds Major-General Robert H. Haining, who has been in Palestine since last April and who has been named commander-in-chief of the Western Command.
