Various big industries, including the Skoda armament works and the Bata shoe factories, were reported today to have received orders from the United States that carried with them the condition that anti-Jewish legislation not be introduced in Czechoslovakia. The Government is understood to have replied in the affirmative to inquiries by the industrialists as to whether the orders could be accepted under such conditions.
Meanwhile, dissension over the Jewish policy is continuing in the governmental Party of National Unity, with the right wing favoring a radical anti-Jewish line and the moderates opposed on the ground that such a policy would result in unfavorable repercussions abroad and hurt Czech exports, particularly to the United States.
