Captain Victor Cazalet, Conservative M.P., declared in a letter to The Times on the barring of illegal Jewish immigrants from Palestine that it was strange commentary on “the generous desire frequently expressed by Britain to do something for refugees that at the present time the rights of the Jews, hitherto unequivocally recognized by successive governments, to enter Palestine under the absorptive capacity standard, should be drastically curtailed.”
