More than 2,000 Jews are affected by the Japanese blockade of the British and French concessions here. Most of them have businesses within the concessions, while a number reside in Japanese-controlled sections of the city. A majority of the Tientsin Jews are of Russian origin, having come here via Harbin. Only a few are German Jews, with refugees among their number.
