Four thousand Jewish house-to-house peddlers in Warsaw have been threatened with loss of livelihood through the Trade Ministry’s instructions to police liquidate unlicensed street trading. An estimated 720 of the 5,000 Jewish peddlers have succeeded in obtaining licenses from the Trade Ministry. The Union of Jewish Small Traders is intervening with the authorities.
Meanwhile, the executive committee of the National Democratic Party, at a special session called to consider the Jewish question, decided to launch a campaign against circumcision and preparation of matzos for Passover under the slogan. “Down with Medieval Customs.” The committee also decided to continue the fight for elimination of Jews from municipal councils, chambers of commerce and universities and decided to strengthen propaganda again improvement of relations between Poles and Jews.
