Many employees of the Jaffa port have been dismissed by the authorities as a result of the decline of the port’s traffic. Of the two cranes installed in the port, one was recently transferred to Tel Aviv and the other to Haifa. Similarly the big warehouses of the Jaffa port which were empty the greater part of the year were removed to Tel Aviv. Jaffa is being gradually transformed into purely Winter port for the export of oranges.

On the other hand the port of Tel Aviv is growing uninterruptedly. A new unloading dock is now being built in the Tel Aviv port.
