The Irish Times today described Britain’s new Palestine policy as “a gross breach of faith with the Jews” and declared that “even if the judgment of the Mandates Commission is reversed by the League of Nations Council the Jewish case will have gained strong advocacy.”

“The new plan is so scandalous a betrayal of the Jews that it has aroused not only their anger but the anger of all decent men in every country.” an article asserted.

Declaring that Britain would not give up mandate since she could not relax her hold in the eastern Mediterranean the Times concluded: “Britain has to choose between expediency and honor.”
