Bruno Walter’s Daughter Slain by German Husband

The daughter of Bruno Walter exiled German-Jewish conductor has been shot dead by her German non-Jewish husband who then took his own life. The tragedy of the refugee couple became known today when Herr Walter cancelled an engagement to lead the Mozart Music Festival at Lucerne. Arturo Toscanini agreeing to substitute for him. The husband who was named Neppach killed himself in his apartment after firing two revolver shots at her according to an announcement last Friday which merely said that a “foreign architect” had committed suicide after having slain his wife.
