Council Defers Decision on Enlarging Scope and Representation

The General Jewish Council, which met yesterday to consider three alternative plans for assuming greater responsibility in Jewish defense and relief work, enlargement of the Council and other questions, took no action and put off a decision until the next meeting, the date for which was not set, it was learned today at the Council’s office. No official statement was issued on the closed meeting, which lasted from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The organizations presently represented in the Council are the American Jewish Committee, American Jewish Congress, B’nai B’rith and Jewish Labor Committee.
