A movement to aid converted Jews affected by the Hungarian anti-Jewish law was launched here today by Count Gyula Zichy, Archbishop of Kalocsa. Two Hungarian Bishops of Jewish descent are among Catholics classed as Jews under the law.
The Archbishop announced formation of a committee of Catholics which, under his leadership, will work for the “moral and spiritual protection” of the converts affected by the anti-Semitic legislation. He issued an appeal for support of the committee, reminding Catholics that “love of one’s neighbor and Catholic solidarity dictate that we shall not abandon our co-religionists and shall come to their aid in these grave hours of their life.”
