Death is continuing to take its toll among the more than 2,000 Jewish refugees from the Reich who are stranded on barges on the Danube. Because access to the barges is strictly forbidden, one girl died without being given any medical help. A young man suffering from appendicitis succumbed just as a doctor was permitted, after many interventions, to board the vessel.
