Nazis Depopulating Poland, Chamberlain States

Declaring that the number of persons executed in Nazi-occupied Poland was “considerable,” Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain told the House of Commons today that Germany apparently was pursuing “a policy of deliberate depopulation” in which intellectual leaders had been singled out in particular for execution.

Reports of executions were generally confirmed by such evidence as was available, Chamberlain said, and the exiled Polish Government was planning to issue a White Book on the deaths.
