The House Foreign Affairs Committee today reported favorably, with amendments, the Kee bill providing $15,000,000 for Polish relief.
The committee changed the title of the bill so as to include “and other similarly afflicted areas” with Poland. This was done to provide relief for countries near Poland into which thousands of refugees have poured.
The bill now goes to the House calendar awaiting action by the whole House. It will not have to be approved by the Appropriations Committee. Proponents of the resolution were elated by the Foreign Affairs Committee action and predicted favorable action in the House. They admitted they would meet stronger opposition in the Senate.
