Hundreds of Refugees Seized for Deportation in French Areas

Hundreds of Polish, Czech and German refugees are being rounded up for deportation in the Marseille, Nice and Toulouse districts, it was learned here today. They are being concentrated in camps pending their deportation.

There were nearly 7,000 Jews among the 70,000 Lorraine residents deported by Germany to unoccupied France, it has been ascertained. Collections to assist them are being held in all Jewish communities.

Meanwhile, Paris advices said that a number of Jews formerly identified with anti-Nazi activties in France have been seized by the Nazi authorities and transported to Germany.
