It was reported from Jerusalem today that 1,584 illegal immigrants who reached Palestine on the steamship Atlantic were deported to a British colony on 8 aboard two British vessels. The censorship has just permitted release of the news.
J.T.A. dispatches last week had indicated this development, reporting that Palestine Jews had held a general strike when a group of refugees was moved from the Athlit detention camp to Haifa in preparation for deportation.
