Prof. Samuel Krauss, famous scholar, will celebrate his 75th birthday on Tuesday at Cambridge University, where he has been carrying on research since 1938, when his library in Vienna was burned down by the Nazis. His latest works written in exile have been published by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations in Cincinnati.
Dr. Krause was for 30 years professor at the Israelite Theological Academy in Vienna. He was active in many fields of Jewish intellectual activity and was one of the chief collaborators on a translation of the Bible into Hungarian in 1906. He also has done research in the fields of Talmud, Jewish history, Hebrew literature and philosophy. His works have appeared in German, Hungarian, Hebrew, French, English and Italian.
